The price of fuel in Thailand

When you move into a country and you own a car, the price of fuel is an important mater, as it will represent a significant expense in your budget.

Here are the main fuel categories that you will find at the gas pump in Thailand, and their average prices:
- Gasoline 95, which is the most expensive fuel category, around 50 THB a liter.
- Gasohol 95, containing up to 10% ethanol, and which is around 40 THB a liter.
- Gasohol 91, also containing ethanol, suitable for most recent gasoline cars. It costs about 38 THB per liter.
- Gasohol E85. It contains 85% ethanol, and it is quite inexpensive, around 25 THB a liter. But using it requires a adjustments of the engine.
- Diesel. This fuel is sold for around 30 THB per liter, and the Premium version costs 3 THB more per liter.
- The NGV, or natural gas with 97% of methane: this is the gas that is used in many countries for cooking. In Thailand, all the taxis are powered by NGV: you will notice the gas cylinder which occupies a large part of the trunk. It is very cheap, around 10 THB a liter. The supply takes longer and the waiting time at the gas station can be long.
