Sumba, the island of horses, is 1:30 hour flight from Bali and 2:30 hour flight from Jakarta, the capital. Sumba has two airports, offering daily and regular flights: Tambolaka airport in the Northeast and Waingapu airport in the Northwest.

The highest point on this beautiful island is Gunung Wanggameti, 1225 meters high, with wild horses, hills, waterfalls, pine forests and terraced rice fields, which are making of Sumba one of the islands with the most diverse landscapes.

The local population of over 685,184 inhabitants is gathered on the coasts and composed mostly of immigrants from neighboring islands who came to Sumba for trade, fishing and agriculture. The different cultures that coexist in the island live in perfect harmony.
